In honor of Client Appreciation Day 2019, we want to say Thanks! We're so happy to work with such great clients, it just makes us want to dance!
Today's news coverage of the rare reunion of the remaining members of the presidents club, reminded me of a Thank You letter that former President George H.W. Bush sent me shortly after his term of office as the 41st President of the United States ended on January 20, 1993. At the time, I was a Houstonian, engaged to a Texas Longhorn and employed at Continental Airlines as Vice President of Marketing Programs. Former President George H.W. Bush's return to Houston was a point of pride for Houstonians and a frequent topic of conversation. During one such conversation at The Forest Club, where my future Mother-in-Law was planning our wedding (and where fellow members Barbara and George H. W. Bush would lunch when in town), she mused; 'I wonder if he will feel as bad about getting downgraded from Air Force One to flying First Class on Continental as I did when I dropped from Platinum Elite to Gold [...]
It was an honor to know you. Your commitment to stand firmly by personal principles over the expediency of the current politics of a situation, your understanding that a difference of opinion was no cause for withdrawing from a friendship and your honest self-reflection, self-criticism and self-correction serve as a valuable reminder about the most essential qualities for those in leadership... the importance of authenticity, transparency and trust. Rest in peace, John.
If you can keep your head when all about you Are losing theirs and blaming it on you, If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, But make allowance for their doubting too. If you can wait and not be tired by waiting, Or being lied about, don't deal in lies, Or being hated, don't give way to hating, And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise: If you can dream—and not make dreams your master; If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim; If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster, And treat those two impostors just the same; If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools, Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken, And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools: If you can make a heap of all your [...]
Colleen first displayed her entrepreneurial spirit while studying at The University of Texas in Austin, when she launched her first business. Like the Texas Longhorns, she was Hooked. After achieving her degree in Advertising, she sold her business and moved to Houston, Texas where she worked as a stockbroker for the Paine-Webberaffiliate, Rotan-Mosle. While Colleen loved using her analytical skills to help her clients grow their stock portfolios, she craved a business environment founded on a relationship and collaborative partnership. After a few years, Colleen decided to pursue her passion for marketing atQuality Beverage, the biggest wine & spirit distributor in the state of Texas, at that time. At Quality Beverage, she launched several new beverage brands into the marketplace, including Kendall-Jackson, Gallo Varietals, and Bacardi Breezers. Colleen’s beverage marketing experience proved invaluable as she learned first-hand the importance of extending a brand’s equity across all consumer touch points… from brand to [...]

Throwback Thursday: Winter Olympic Memory Park City, Utah - Home of the XIX Olympic Winter Games in 2002. This photo of Earl Quenzel, getting ready for his first Luge run under the direction of three-time Olympian Duncan Kennedy, was taken at the top of the Men’s Luge Track in Park City, Utah. The Men’s Luge Track at Park City, measures 1316 meters, (4,317 feet), features 15 curves and a Men's Track Record time of 0:44.271. 'My top speed fell far short of the 90 miles an hour you see the Olympic competitors achieve. However, as I recall, my best time was around 0:54. It's a wild ride. You start-out pretty fast, but really pick-up speed coming out of curve-six. Just as you pass the Finish Line, you're supposed to sit-up in order to slow the sled down to a stop. That's when I realized just how fast I was going,' said Earl Quenzel. Quenzel [...]
