About Colleen Quenzel
Founder, President & CEO, Quenzel Marketing Agency
Colleen Quenzel brings more than three decades of experience in marketing, business development, sales, and client relationship management to her leadership of Quenzel Marketing Agency. Her career connects a practical understanding of what motivates customers with the business discipline required to turn that understanding into results.
As Founder, President & CEO, Colleen sets the agency’s strategic direction and oversees its operations, financial management, hiring, and training. She also leads client relationships and helps guide the development of marketing plans designed to strengthen brands and grow clients’ businesses.
Her responsibilities bring together two perspectives essential to effective agency leadership: the needs of the business investing in marketing and the needs of the customer deciding whether to buy.
That connection supports the agency’s promise: Our Clients Get More Customers.
Understanding People. Building Brands. Helping Businesses Grow.
A Career Built Around Customer Decisions
Colleen earned her Bachelor of Science in Advertising from The University of Texas in 1984. Her subsequent career gave her experience with several different kinds of customer decisions: investing money, choosing consumer brands, participating in loyalty programs, and selecting business partners.
Across those settings, success required understanding the audience, explaining value, earning confidence, and following through. Each role added to the perspective she now brings to clients.
Her background also connects marketing with sales and operations. A compelling offer must reach the right people. A promotion must generate a useful response. A customer relationship must be supported by reliable service. Those connections are central to her approach to integrated marketing management.
Early Experience: Matching Recommendations to Client Objectives
From December 1987 to January 1989, Colleen worked as a stockbroker with Rotan Mosle, Inc., a subsidiary of Paine Webber, Inc., in Houston, Texas. She sold stocks, bonds, and mutual funds to individual investors and opened 70 new accounts through telemarketing, personal interviews, direct mail, and seminars. The work required her to communicate through several channels while building relationships with people making consequential financial decisions.
She also managed account portfolios and designed an asset allocation model intended to reduce risk and meet client objectives. This experience provides an early example of an approach that remains relevant to her agency leadership: understand the client’s goals, consider the available options, and develop a recommendation suited to the situation.
It also gave her firsthand experience with acquisition and ongoing account management. Winning the initial business and maintaining the relationship required different activities, but both depended on understanding the client and delivering on expectations.
Building Brands Through Sales, Promotions, and Education.
From September 1989 to November 1994, Colleen served as a Beverage Sales and Marketing Representative with Julius Schepps/Quality Beverage Distributors in Houston. She helped launch brands including Kendall-Jackson and Gallo varietals and marketed a broad portfolio that included Perrier, Inglenook, Almaden, Ruffino, Chateau Ste. Michelle, Villa Antinori, Louis Jadot, Veuve Clicquot, Krug Champagne, and Moët & Chandon.
Her responsibilities included developing promotions to increase on-premise beverage sales and providing training to educate customers about new and existing products. She consistently exceeded quota and earned recognition as the top salesperson for three consecutive years. That combination of promotion, education, and sales performance illustrates an important principle in brand marketing: customers need a reason to choose, and the people presenting the product need to understand that reason.
Introducing a brand requires more than making it available. It requires explaining its appeal, establishing its relevance, and helping others communicate its value. Colleen’s experience in beverage marketing brought those requirements together in a competitive selling environment.
Growing a Business Through Loyalty Marketing
Colleen’s work at Synapse Group, Inc., in Stamford, Connecticut, expanded her experience into national partnerships, database marketing, direct response, and new business development. As Director of Direct Marketing and New Business Development from June 1995 to February 2002, she developed the Miles for Magazines reward program, connecting magazine subscriptions with airline loyalty rewards.
The program brought together complementary interests: consumers could use loyalty rewards for magazine subscriptions, while participating partners gained an offer that supported their objectives. Its development demonstrates Colleen’s ability to connect customer appeal with a workable business opportunity.
She identified, acquired, developed, and maintained key relationships with 22 leading loyalty-driven database marketers. These included United Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Airlines, US Airways, Alaska Airlines, Virgin Atlantic Airways, Marriott Hotels, Hyatt Hotels, Universal Studios, and American Express.
Her responsibilities extended beyond securing those relationships. She developed offers to drive sales and meet partner objectives, negotiated contracts, and oversaw operations and customer service.
During her tenure, revenue in the business she helped develop grew from $3 million in 1995 to more than $20 million annually. This work required attention to the entire program: partner needs, customer response, offer development, operational delivery, and continuing relationship management. It is a strong foundation for the comprehensive perspective she brings to agency clients today.
Research, Testing, and Measurable Response
Colleen’s Synapse experience also demonstrates the role of analysis in her approach to marketing. Through ongoing segmentation of loyalty marketers’ databases, direct-response testing, and measurement, she achieved an average direct-mail sales response of nearly 30%, identified in her career record as the company’s highest success rate. The significance is the process behind the result. Segmentation helped distinguish audiences. Testing compared approaches. Measurement provided information for subsequent decisions.
That experience connects directly to Quenzel Marketing Agency’s emphasis on understanding customer differences and evaluating marketing performance.
It also shows why an empathetic leadership style and analytical discipline can work together. Understanding what people may want helps shape an offer. Testing and measurement establish how they actually respond.
Leading Quenzel Marketing Agency Since 2005
Since 2005, Colleen has served as President & CEO of Quenzel Marketing Agency in Fort Myers, Florida.
She creates, plans, and executes the company’s strategic direction and oversees operations and performance in pursuit of its goals. Her responsibilities include financial oversight and human resources, including hiring and training.
Colleen also leads the agency’s efforts to retain every current client. That objective calls for continuing attention to business needs, communication, service quality, and marketing effectiveness. Her client responsibilities include developing and recommending comprehensive marketing plans, overseeing and evaluating market research, and adjusting strategy as market and competitive conditions change.
She also guides recommendations on product positioning, packaging, and pricing, with attention to long-term market share. Managing client and media relationships adds further responsibility for how the agency and its clients communicate with the outside world. Internally, she challenges the team to stay informed about new marketing trends and consider their relevance to client objectives.
A Leadership Style That Connects People With Purpose
Colleen’s leadership can be described through her strengths: attention to people, shared purpose, collaboration, and organized action. Her professional history gives that description substance. She has developed national business relationships, educated customers, managed service responsibilities, led teams, and overseen a business.
At the agency, those experiences support a style that combines listening with direction. Understanding a client’s concerns helps establish priorities. Explaining the reasoning behind a recommendation helps build alignment. Clear responsibilities and follow-through help turn agreement into action.
Her attention to relationships also supports candid communication. A productive agency partnership requires the ability to discuss concerns, explain tradeoffs, and adjust recommendations when circumstances change. For clients, this means working with a leader whose responsibilities encompass both the quality of the relationship and the performance of the work.
