People around the world celebrate the memory of St. Patrick, credited with bringing Christianity to Ireland in the fifth century on the anniversary of his death, March 17, 461.
Legend has it that St. Patrick explained the Holy Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Ghost) using the three leaves of the Irish clover, which we know as a shamrock.
Surprisingly, Ireland did not host the first St. Patrick’s Day parade. St. Augustine, in our sunshine state, holds that claim to fame since 1601.
